Gas detectors are designed to monitor specific gases. For restaurants, bars, breweries, and other food and beverage businesses that use stored CO₂ for beverage dispensing, carbon dioxide leaks can create a serious safety hazard.
Carbon dioxide (CO₂) is commonly stored in pressurized cylinders or bulk tanks for beverage carbonation and dispensing. If CO₂ leaks into an enclosed or poorly ventilated area, it can accumulate to unsafe concentrations. CO₂ detection systems continuously monitor concentrations and can alert occupants when levels become elevated.
